Coleman Folding Double Wash Basin

This will likely be one of my longer reviews because my feelings are really mixed about this product. I think what Coleman has done here with their Folding Double Wash Basin is pretty interesting and I think it definitely has merit, but there are a few caveats that I'll detail later that give me a little pause in giving this a full-throated recommendation.

What this is, is a collapsable sink with two 10 x 10 basin made out of PVC. The double basin design lets you wash and rinse dishes at the same time, so you can spend less time on cleaning up, and more time enjoying your camping. Looking at the picture, you can see it has carrying handles so you can move it around, but that's not something I would really recommend doing often. The support rods built into the basins do a decent job at keeping the whole unit stable, but it's too much of a challenge if you have any number of dishes in there. So I would only recommend moving this thing when it's either 1) empty or 2) only full of water. Maybe this goes without saying, but I think it's worth mentioning!

Hot water will make the unit very soft and pliable. So keep that in mind, and it's probably best to only use warm water. Also, when filling with water, do not fill it up all the way. You don't want that much water in there and it places a huge amount of strain on the basins. These are not intended to to filled up to the max in my opinion. This unit does collapse down flat into a very small package, which is a tremendous space saver when camping. Just make sure you protect it so that nothing has a chance to poke a hole in the PVC.

Coleman Folding Double Wash Basin

Size wise the 10 x 10 basins are just okay, and I would prefer slightly larger so that I could drop a pan into it. That being said, these are plenty large for cups, plates, bowls, and utensils. My frying pan does fit partially, also, so it's not like I can't work around that. My process for washing involves rinsing with cold water, then soak in the hot and soapy side, and then soak again on the cold water rinse side. For good measure, we also then wash off again clean cold water. It's a bit of a chore, but getting food borne illness 3 hours away from a hospital sounds a lot worse.   So what this unit has going for it in my opinion is that it's really cost effective, and you get two basins for the price of one. If money is no object, then there are other options you can buy, but you'll end up spending over double what you'll pay for this unit. So in the end, I do think this product works well, but it's important to keep those caveats I mentioned above in mind.
