Gear Aid Seam Grip Field Repair Kit

When you're camping, things can go wrong with your gear and that could span the list of having a small hole in your tent to having a bear tear through your food. Field repair tape is an essential component for camping. Most folks I know use duct tape, because it's cheap and will give you decent adhesion to a lot of surfaces. However, if you need a tight, water resistant seal for your sleeping pad, camping cot fabric, backpack, tent, hiking boots, air mattress or other gear that may get damaged, then you'll want a specialized product. Which is where the Gear Aid Seam Grip Field Repair Kit comes into play

Other tape will give you a temporary fix to a problem, but this tape has such good adhesive properties, that I would venture to call it a permanent fix. Another great part of this kit is that it comes in a very compact tube thats 3x1 inches. Included in there you'll get a tube of seam sealer and adhesive, along with 2 repair patches (tape) and an application brush. So everything you need to make a repair comes in the kit. It reminds me very much of the tire tube repair kits I carry on all my bicycles.

In most applications, you'll have to wait maybe 12 hours for the adhesive to dry, and it's best if you can get it in sunlight to speed up the drying process. At seriously cold temperatures, it will not perform great, but the same can be said for every other tape/adhesive. Outside of these factors, I think this product performs very very well. Not only is this a cheap repair option, it's actually really cheap insurance just to carry with you during camping excursions.
